The American Film Academy presented a list of nominees for the 2020 Oscars – winners in 24 categories will be announced in early February during a traditional ceremony. The project “Cinema Mail.ru” found out from Russian viewers who, in their opinion, deserve statuettes in four key nominations: for the best film, best director, as well as male and female roles.

Best film and director
The survey results showed that the Joker should be the best film at the Oscars 2020 – 37% of respondents voted for it. A quarter of the audience (26%) believes that the statuette should be handed over to Quentin Tarantino’s painting “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”. In the third place among the favorites was the tape “Ford vs Ferrari” – 15% of the audience voted for it. 7% and fourth place – at the “Irish” Martin Scorsese. Recall that in total in the nomination “Best Film” nine tapes are presented.
The poll was named Quentin Tarantino (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) as the director of the year, giving him 41% of the vote. Todd Phillips (Joker) won the hearts of 27% of respondents. For the candidacy of Martin Scorsese (“Irishman”) 18% of the respondents voted.
Actor and actress of the year
In the nomination “Best Actor”, Oscar deserves the most, according to 66% of the voters, Joaquin Phoenix, the performer of the Joker in the film of the same name. A quarter (25%) of respondents would give the victory to Leonardo DiCaprio for his role in the film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

In the process of selecting the winner of the Oscars for the best female role, the opinions of users diverged, as a result, the first place had to be divided between actresses Scarlett Johansson (“Marriage Story”) and Charlize Theron (“Scandal”) – they each have 30% of the vote. But the favorite of the upcoming Oscar Renee Zellweger (Judy), which has already won several prestigious awards, including Golden Globe, got 25% of the votes of Russian viewers.
